Major disruption expected as French rail strike hits services nationwide

Rail passengers across France are facing significant disruption on Wednesday, 10 June, as four rail unions stage a 24-hour strike over pay, working conditions and company restructuring.

National rail operator SNCF has warned that around one-third of high-speed TGV services will be cancelled, while regional Intercité and TER trains are expected to be even more heavily affected.
Passengers travelling on operating services should also prepare for delays and overcrowding.
International routes will not escape the disruption.
Eurostar has cancelled six services on Wednesday, with additional cancellations scheduled for Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.
Travellers are being urged to check their journeys before setting off.
In the Paris region, several RER commuter rail lines will run reduced timetables, particularly the RER B, C, D and E services.
Transilien suburban rail routes are also expected to experience severe disruption, with some lines operating only a third of their usual services.
SNCF said affected passengers are being contacted directly and will be offered either a full refund or the option to rebook free of charge.
The strike does not affect Paris Metro, bus or tram services, nor public transport networks in other French cities.
However, travellers nationwide are advised to allow extra time and check service updates before travelling.
