His visit has not yet been confirmed by the Elysee.

However, latest reports say that the two leaders are due to attend the opening of the “Bharat Innovates” exhibition at the Palais des Expositions, a multi-day event running until 16 June and centred on deep technology, innovation and scientific collaboration.

The summit, organised by India’s Ministry of Education in partnership with France, aims to connect India’s deep-tech ecosystem with international industry leaders, researchers and investors.

Around 120 Indian start-ups from 13 technology sectors are expected to take part.

If confirmed, the visit would see both Macron and Modi jointly launch the event, underlining growing cooperation between France and India in science and innovation.

The French President had previously been scheduled for other engagements in the region later in the month, but this appearance in Nice would mark an earlier-than-expected visit to the Côte d’Azur.
